The Tooth Project

The Tooth has been used as a youth activity centre in the Willenhall area of Coventry by local young people since it was opened in December 2004. One of the many focuses of the project has been to create opportunities for the free and frank exchange of ideas and opinions, so that young people can improve their understanding of the world, of themselves and each other.

With support from Coventry City Council the building is currently undergoing a process of re-development and improvement. Our youth work team have been focussing on a series of outreach programmes with parents and young people to gather feedback and information on local services for young people. The aim of these programmes is to support the community and empower local young people and parents to take voluntary action to shape their futures.

Recent development has involved linking local young people within Willenhall with The Challenge Project http://www.the-challenge.org/ to re-design and decorate The Tooth space. Links have also been made with other young people’s service providers to develop future work and partnerships to create new opportunities for young people within the locality.
